More about Kurt

Kurt is a graduate of Western Theological Seminary (M.Div) in Holland, Michigan. Prior to seminary, however, Kurt spent the early part of his career working for a large multinational manufacturing company in various roles within a production plant. At the same time, Kurt began growing and honing his leadership skills while serving in various leadership roles within his local church. It was there that Kurt leaned into a call into both seminary and subsequently, full-time vocational ministry. During seminary, Kurt served in his first vocational ministry role in a church in the Quad Cities (IA/IL), before making the big change to serve a church in Sioux County, IA in November 2019. In this role and season, Kurt helped lead a campus “enfolding,” which meant guiding and coaching leaders through the closing of one church, and the implementation and installation of an entirely new culture as a new campus of an established church. Kurt also currently serves as a Faithwalking facilitator. In September 2024, Kurt stepped away from both his ministry role and full-time vocational ministry as a whole to devote full energy and effort towards growing the Brimstone Coaching Group into a successful coaching practice.

Kurt and his wife, Amber, were married in May of 2006, and have 2 children; Cooper and Ella. Kurt and Amber are both celebrating AND navigating all of the life changes that come with the new chapter of life parenting a teen and a tween! They love spending time together, especially at ballparks and playing games!

When not coaching and pastoring, Kurt loves to watch and listen to baseball (yes, listening as in on the radio), specifically Boston Red Sox baseball. If he’s not caught up in the radio broadcast of a baseball game, he will likely be either on his mountain bike on a trail or reading a good book with a good cup of coffee. Kurt also has a deep love for music of all kinds, which led him to found and operate Mingo Entertainment, a music bingo entertainment company that specializes in hosting entertainment events in local restaurants and breweries.
